After a few amazing weeks in Tasmania, we are back in mainland Australia, happy and exhausted. Clearly we deserve some rest and given we do not have too many plans for the next few days, rest is exactly what we’re going to focus on. After a late start for the day, we spent the morning playing card games with the kids, before going to the local mall for shopping, haircuts and lunch.

Frankston is a suburb of Melbourne in Victoria, known as “the gateway to the Mornington Peninsula”. We happened to be in town just in time for a Sand Sculpting exhibition. The kids spent hours exploring and really enjoyed having a go at crafting their own work.

We travelled further south to the holiday town of Mornington where you can drive on the white sandy beach and taste a bit of the magic this peninsula has to offer. The kids fell asleep in the car on our way back to the caravan park, but once they woke up there was still a lot of energy for them to burn until dinner, enough for home schooling and a tennis match before bedtime.

The following day we decided to stay at the caravan park and simply spend some precious family time together, before we head to the big city of Melbourne. Sometimes you wonder whether taking the children to see amazing scenery and experience endless attractions is appealing to them at all, since spending time in a playground, riding their bikes or just splashing in the water seem to be far more exciting to them. You gotta think – are they interested in traveling around the continent at all?!
