Boat Harbour Beach

The morning was dedicated to run a few errands in the town of Burnie. Then we kept going west towards Wynyard which had a few interesting attractions. The wind nearly blew us off the lookout at Fossil Bluff, we made it to the lighthouse at Table Cape for more impressive views, and even a bit of rain did not stop us. But then, as the clouds disappeared and the sun came out, we arrived at a stunningly beautiful beach with white sand and turquoise water. With clouds coming and going, we experienced this special place in different shades and colours.

The kids spent quite some time at the playground, as the local cafe served good coffee and hot chips, which the seagulls also appreciated. After the break we kept going until we found a nice place to stop for the night – a caravan park off the main road at Crayfish Creek. As much as we like the idea of free camping, a good shower and power supply to recharge our phones and use the air conditioner is never a problem. After all, it’s the end of summer in Tassie, and it’s pretty damn cold out there.
