Hobart is the lovely capital of Tasmania, and it truly is lovely. We arrived to the city late afternoon and went straight to the Waterfront Piers to walk by the water and have an early dinner in one of the many restaurants. Without even planning it, we ended up spending the whole evening there at the docks which appeared to be very popular with the locals.

The following day, Saturday, is market day at the famous Salamanca Market. There’s a lot to see there and we spent quite some time hanging around, until we took a stroll around the city with some lovely victorian-style buildings across a few blocks. In the afternoon, we caught up with old friends from Sydney at a playground – their son went to school with ours until a year ago. It was warmer than usual for Hobart, an astonishing 25 degrees, as we concluded that Hobart is definitely a lovely city overall for families.

Other attractions around Hobart which we decided to leave for another day are the MONA Museum for contemporary art, the drive up to Wellington Mountain for a super freezy but amazing lookout, and a stroll at the Botanic Gardens. Hobart city that has plenty to offer.

Lovely, hopefully I’ll get to visit one day.
